Our Mission
At Inventiva, we are united in developing differentiated treatments for MASH and making a meaningful difference in the lives of those affected.
Recognizing that MASH is not just a liver disease but also a cardiometabolic condition, we have purposefully designed a potential oral therapy — currently in clinical development — intended to restore metabolic balance at the source and directly target inflammation and fibrosis.
Our goal is to bring relief to patients across the MASH patient population, addressing a critical unmet need in a progressive and life-threatening disease.
Our product candidate, lanifibranor, has been granted FDA Breakthrough Therapy Designation and is now being evaluated in a global Phase 3 clinical trial.

- Discovery of investigational asset lanifibranor by our research team within the flagship R&D organization of Fournier, prior to its acquisition by Abbott Laboratories.
2012
2012
- Creation of Inventiva following Abbott’s divestiture of the unit, and full transfer of rights, ensuring program continuity under the original scientific leadership.
2017
2017
- Inventiva goes public on the Euronext stock exchange.
2019
2019
- FDA grants Fast Track designation for lead asset lanifibranor in MASH.
2020
2020
- Positive results from the Phase 2b NATIVE clinical trial in MASH.
- FDA grants Breakthrough Therapy designation to lanifibranor; publication of the positive topline results from the Phase 2b NATIVE.
- Inventiva goes public on the NASDAQ Global Market
2021

- Initiation of Phase 3 NATiV3 clinical trial evaluating lanifibranor in patients with MASH and fibrosis stages F2–F3.
- FDA Fast Track designation granted to lanifibranor in MASH encompasses the treatment of MASH with compensated cirrhosis.
2022

- Licensing agreement with Sino Biopharmaceutical for the development and potential commercialization of lanifibranor in Greater China, if approved.
2023

- Positive topline results from the investigator-initiated Phase 2 clinical trial evaluating lanifibranor in patients with T2D and MASLD.
- Licensing agreement with Hepalys Pharma to develop and potentially commercialize lanifibranor in Japan and South Korea, if approved.
2024

- Positive results from the Phase 2, LEGEND, proof-of-concept study combining lanifibranor with the SGLT2 inhibitor empagliflozin in patients with MASH and type 2 diabetes.
2025
2025
- Inventiva completes enrollment in the Phase 3 NATiV3 clinical trial evaluating lanifibranor in patients with F2/F3 MASH.
- Andrew Obenshain joins as CEO of Inventiva
